On the occasion of the 23rd sesion of the Human Rights Council, Norway hosted a side event on behalf of the core group on business and human rights, consting of Russia, India, Ghana, Argentina and Norway. The event was titled: Best practices and approaches in implementing the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights - preventing harm and ensuring remedies, and included a panel discussion with representatives from several multinational companies.
The panelsist consisted of 5 speakers, including a representative from the Brazilian NCP, ACCESS Facility, the Rio Tinto Group and Terneyles, all engaged in sharing their relevant experience from the field of business and human rights. The event was an opportunity for the core group to increase awareness on the subject and continue its efforts in implementating the three pillars of the UN Guiding Principles on human rights in the corporate business environment.
