These informal meetings allow for discussion and consultations on the implementation of the convention, and help strengthen the norm that keeps state- and non-state actors from using or obtaining cluster munitions. In its statement to the Meeting of States Parties to the BTWC on 7 December, Norway highlighted i.a. the need for developing new synergies and building stronger partnerships with organizations that survey and combat disease on a daily basis, such as the WHO, FAO and the OIE, as well as the need to strengthen Confidence Building Measures.
