NOREPS

The Norwegian Emergency Preparedness System (NOREPS) provides relief supplies and personnel to the UN system and other international organizations in their efforts to reach disaster areas without delay.

The Norwegian Emergency Preparedness System (NOREPS) provides relief supplies and personnel to the UN system and other international organizations in their efforts to reach disaster areas without delay.

NOREPS was established in 1991 and has since then been operating in most humanitarian emergency operations by supplying goods and services within the following sectors:
• Health Care
• Foods
• Communications
• Water & sanitation equipment
• Tools
• Shelter
• Transport

There are four partners in the NOREPS system:
• The Ministry of Foreign Affairs
• The five major Norwegian NGOs and one GO
• Some 20 Norwegian companies
• Innovation Norway

In its emergency relief work the Norwegian government is guided by one main objective:
Assist as many people as possible in the best possible way. Focusing on:
• The needs of the victims
• and to give a quick response to the appeals and requests from the UN and NGOs.
