Norwegian financial contribution in support of the OHCHR`s activities in the period 2011-2013

Last updated: 18.04.2012 // Foreign Minister Støre and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navanethem Pillay signed an agreement in May 2011 on a financial contribution totaling NOK 180 million in support of the OHCHR’s activities in the period 2011–2013.

Foreign Minister Støre and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navanethem Pillay signed an agreement in May 2011 on a financial contribution totaling NOK 180 million in support of the OHCHR’s activities in the period 2011–2013. This was is the first time Norway has concluded a multi-year agreement with the Office of the OHCHR. Norway has, however, been one of the largest contributors to the OHCHR for a number of years.

This agreement reflects Norway’s strong focus on human rights in its foreign policy. The OHCHR plays a vital role in the efforts to strengthen the international system for safeguarding human rights, and is an important partner for Norway. The goal of the agreement is to contribute to OHCHR`s overarching objective to support, protect and promote the effective enjoyment of all human rights.
