Last updated: 07/12/2011 // A strategy document has been developed outlining Norway's key priorities in its engagement with WHO.

Norwegian WHO Strategy 2010-2013

Norway’s activities and initiatives within the WHO are based on the principles of respect for human rights, democracy and gender equality. This approach makes the fight against poverty a key factor. Norway’s vision for the WHO includes strengthening the WHO as a leading normative organization in promoting global health, integrating health into all policy areas, supporting  the promotion of  access to health services for all and strengthening national health systems.

The overall objectives for Norway’s engagement with the WHO are to fight poverty by helping to achieve the UN Millennium Development Goals, to support and promote the right to health services, to help reduce the social inequalities in the world, to help reduce the burden of disease, and to promote women’s rights and gender equality.
