On 21 July 2012, the Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a federal law that authorizes the protocol for the country to join the World Trade Organization. On 23 July, the WTO-secretariat was notified on the ratification by the Russian government. The membership entered into force on 22 August 2012. With Russia joining the organization, all world’s major economies are now members of the WTO.
